Brent Bannerman, President
With 15 years experience in the health care technology and benefits fields, Brent pioneered an industry when he founded HighRoads in October 1999. He spearheaded the company into its market leadership position, played a central role in HighRoads' venture capital funding, F500 customers and strategic relationships. Today, Highroads boasts 100 of the F500 as customers. Brent is also a founding partner of Kendall Square Partners, working with early stage technology companies. Prior to founding HighRoads, Brent directed Zurich's Accident and Health product lines in the Northeastern United States, and served in a variety of front-line positions in sales, marketing and e-business strategy development. Brent holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree from McGill University.
Frederic Chanay, COO
Frederic brings to Theralive over 15 years of product development and strategy experience with leading mobile and Internet companies. Prior to co-founding Theralive, Frederic was running the consulting division of Verisign Canada, following its acquisition of inCode Wireless, a global mobile consultancy and mobile engineering firm. Frederic was the general manager of the Canadian division of inCode prior to its acquisition by Verisign. Prior to that, Frederic was director of Internet product development with Bell Canada where he led the development of the company’s web-enabled applications. He built the application development team and implemented rapid application development processes leading to the development and scaling of multiple complex web applications each reaching millions of users. Prior to his tenure with Bell Canada, Frederic was a consultant with Proxicom -a web agency- in San Francisco, serving leading clients such as Electronic Arts, SBC and GE. Frederic serves on the board of Mecano, a Montreal-based web agency specialised in online gaming. He was raised in West Africa and lived and worked in four continents. Frederic holds an M.Sc. in International Business from the University of British Columbia and a BA in Marketing from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Bern Shen, MD, MPhil, Chief Medical Officer
Formerly double Board-certified in internal medicine and emergency medicine, Bern brings 15 years of clinical practice (Yale, Pitt, UCSF and international sites) and 15 years of health IT experience (HP, Oracle, Institute for the Future, Intel - where he was chief healthcare strategist - and various startups) to bear on strategy at the intersection of health, technology and business. He is on the faculty at UCSF (Clinical Pharmacy) and the University of Iowa (Emergency Medicine and the Dept. of Management Sciences at the business school), and serves on nonprofit Boards at The Health Trust and Prof. Clay Christensen's Innosight Institute. Bern holds an A.B. (biochemistry) from Harvard and an MD, MPhil. (molecular biophysics and biochemistry) from Yale.
Stéphane Marceau, Chairman
Stephane has been building and growing mobile and web businesses for over 15 years, both as an entrepreneur and as executive for leading corporations. He is now Chief Marketing Office for The Yellow Pages Group, Canada's leading Internet and Directory Company. He is also co-founder and Chairman of Theralive, a mobile health platform company funded by a leading mobile carrier. He co-founded and was CEO of Mobivox, a global mobile platform. He previously served as Vice-President with Bell Canada for over five years, where he built several new business lines, including Bell Interactive, the online group as well as the consumer VoIP service. Stéphane served as VP and head of several different groups within the company - consumer strategy, e-commerce, online SME markets and led several acquisitions and partnerships. Prior to his time at Bell Canada, he advised wireless and telecom companies in Western Europe, the U.S. and Canada on Internet strategy and technology related opportunities.. Stephane also serves on the boards of several Montreal-based web startups. Stephane holds a Master's degree in Management of Technology from the University of Waterloo and a BA in Finance from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
